Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington is pleased to announce the 2019 Excellence in Construction & Safety Awards Call for Entries. The purpose of the program is to recognize and publicize outstanding projects built by ABC member general contractors and subcontractors. This is an opportunity to have your project(s) honored and recognized as the “best of the best” in the construction industry.

The 2019 Excellence in Construction & Safety Awards will be presented on May 9th at MOHAI in Seattle. Project teams receiving awards will be brought up on stage to accept their award and have their photos taken. Winners will be notified by March 29th so that they can invite their entire project team including owners, engineers, subcontractors, and architects who worked on the project.

ABC will produce an awards program book containing detailed information on all winning projects, as well as distribute press releases to area trade publications. Award recipients will be given “ABC Excellence in Construction Award Recipient” electronic logos for their use in bid packets, marketing materials and websites.

Projects that win on the chapter level are eligible to participate in ABC National’s award competition.

IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES:

• Entry Deadline: March 11, 2019 **** We are extending this deadline to March 25, 2019 due to the snow that impacted all of us.
  Deadline to submit the final application, supplemental materials and payment. Applicants will have until 11:59 p.m. PST to finalize all applications.
• Jury Deliberation: March 27 - April 5, 2019
• Winner Notification: by April 8, 2019
• Award Banquet: May 9, 2019

ELIGIBILITY & CRITERIA
ABC Membership Required: Only ABC contractor members are eligible to enter. Projects completed through a joint venture must include a document outlining the ownership percentage and responsibilities of each partner. Include the document with the Project Information section. If the majority partner is an ABC member but not all partners are ABC members, only the majority contractor is eligible to enter. If your project was completed by a joint venture and not all parties are ABC members, email victoria@abcwestwa.org for eligibility requirements.

Safety Policy:
A company that experiences a safety-related fatality of a direct employee in the United States within the current program year (January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2019) is NOT eligible for an Excellence in Construction award. If a subsidiary is a direct ABC member versus part of a larger holding company member, then the subsidiary with a safety-related fatality is not eligible, but another subsidiary of the same holding company may be.

No project that involves prime, multi-prime or sub-trade contractors with a safety-related fatality is eligible to be considered for an award. 

HOW TO APPLY
All applications are submitted electronically following the below steps:

• *It is recommended you use Google Chrome to ensure program compatibility.
• Click Enter Application Portal at the top of the screen.
• Then click Apply Now!
• For first-time applicants, create a username and password to access the registration and application pages. If you have submitted previously, your username and password remains the same from year to year.
• Complete Phase I—your intent-to-compete registration—and submit payment. You may select to pay by check or credit card.
• A confirmation email will be sent to you containing the link to continue on to Phase II—the application. You may save your information as you go and revisit the application as needed.
• When ready, click Save and Finalize to submit the application. Once the application is finalized, you will no longer be able to make edits. A confirmation will be emailed to you.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The $175 application fee is non-refundable. Be sure to review the application criteria and eligibility prior to entering your submission.

JUDGING AND WINNER NOTIFICATIONS
The final judging will take place between March 27th - April 5th and winning applicants will be notified on April 8th.
